Background and Career

José Antonio Moreno Romero was born in 1986 in the city of Seville. His passion for music and percussion would soon awaken in him, being this the driving force that has marked him throughout his career, becoming one of the emerging figures of percussion on the current scene with more than 13 international awards to his credit. 

He began his musical studies at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Fco. Guerrero where he won his first prize as a soloist in 2004. From very early on he would stand out for his versatility, skills and his special way of understanding rhythm, so much so that he finished his studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla with the highest distinction as a percussionist. During these years of training he won numerous awards such as the 2nd Prize in the International Percussion Group Competition Badajoz 2005 or the Young Soloist Award 2008 at the Conservatory of Music of Seville among others, which reinforce and support a promising future. 

During his years of studies he complemented his training at the Barenboim-Said Academy of Orchestral Studies and was invited by Ney Rosauro to the University of Central Florida for the Percussion Summer Camp 2010 and 2011 (USA).

After finishing his higher studies in Seville, he entered the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Rostock (Germany) where he continued his postgraduate studies until 2012 and then went on to do a Master's degree in orchestral percussion.

During these formative years he was a member of outstanding young orchestras such as the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía and Orquesta Joven de Extremadura, among others. He also belonged to several percussion groups such as Percufusión, Drummer Dreamers and the Hitspalis percussion quartet, of which he was a founding member. 

He has actively collaborated with numerous professional orchestras throughout his career, such as the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Orquesta Filamónica de Málaga, Orquesta Sinfónica de Córdoba, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura, Irish National Symphony Orchestra, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Philarmonische and the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Sevilla, among others.
Como solista podemos destacar numerosos recitales y conciertos en festivales como Sttutgart Bach Akademie Festival Ensemble 2009, Brucken Festival 2011 y 2012, Italy PAS 2015, PASIC 2022, Festival Noches de San Pedro, Ciclo Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba, además de conciertos de solista con orquestas profesionales como Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, Orquesta de Cámara de Bormujos o Stadtkapelle Schwetzingen entre otras.

In his teaching work he has more than 10 years of experience in which he has performed this role in numerous professional music conservatories throughout Andalusia. He has also been invited to teach in various youth orchestras and has given master classes all over Spain, as well as in Germany, the country that marked his training and where he continues to develop various professional aspects as a teacher and soloist.

If anything characterises him, it is his wide capacity for development in multiple facets as a percussionist, participating satisfactorily in numerous international competitions, including the Percussive Arts Society competitions, in the different specialities of percussion and composition, winning prizes in each of his compositions for the PAS. In the same way, he has actively collaborated with various national and international orchestras, which has led him to perform solo concerts and tours throughout Spain and other countries such as Italy, Germany, Ireland, the United States, Portugal, Austria, Morocco and France, among others.
